ABOUT MILK MATTERS
Milk Matters is a community-based breast milk bank that pasteurises and distributes donations of screened breast milk from healthy donors to premature, ill and vulnerable babies whose own mothers cannot supply the breast milk to meet their baby’s needs. Milk Matters also facilitates the setting up of milk banks in health institutions.
Milk Matters will work on expanding the delivery of pasteurised donor milk to all babies in need, while educating parents and health workers to facilitate breastfeeding for all babies and provision of the mother’s own milk to vulnerable babies whenever possible. In this way, Milk Matters will contribute to the health and well-being of babies and mothers.

Under-nutrition causes stunting & 45% of child deaths...
Under-nutrition still causes 45% of all child deaths, and some 165 million children around the world have stunted growth (UNICEF).
It is proven that breastfeeding reduces malnutrition and a multitude of infections. Scaling up support and education for breastfeeding is one of the most crucial interventions we have.
Thank you donors, having been on the receiving end, I know what a huge difference it makes to those tiny babes and their mums!
After work, I’d dash for the train so I could get home to put the milk in the fridge. I felt I was carrying a scarce resource that I had to guard with my life.
